Let me kiss you goodbye,
again,
with poems
written,
and tossed
into the wind--
my words
tripping over each other
trying to reach you--
Again,
goodbye,
my love,
I could pursue you no further,
when your promises
began to break
like dead leaves
under your feet--
Do not wish me well
when you turn to leave,
your prayers echo loudly
in the space you used to be.
So please,
shut the door behind you,
and turn out the lights--
and let me bid
hope, and love,
good night.
