Another Summer

Squint at the half-past-noon sun
sliced neatly between skyscrapers
then served for dessert
on a cotton candy-less sky.
Hear the howling laughter
as we chase the wind
all around the mezzanine,
tousling our long hair in jest.
When jeepneys begin to croon
marriage proposals, and
wedding rings,
dreaming of floral pinks
on the city concrete,
Here comes another summer--
another time to fall in love
with beauty,
with poetry,
within you,
and with me.
