forty-one degrees
one after noon
through a small square window
in my shower stall
seventeen storeys high
little beams of sunlight
dance along my shower songs
i catch them in my palm
diving into the little lakes
in my cupped hands
they glow against my skin
lovely daytime fairy lights
bouncing off crystal droplets
into rainbow colors
in my mind, only
summer memories
i pretend to rinse away
beach salt and sand
laughter and music
and food and drink
right outside
my dearest friends
call me to hurry
i could climb out
this small square window
an escape hatch
to jump from
yet i merely
rinsed away
the happiest days
and lived on 'til two.
