My commute

By walking
the 2.5-kilometer
road home,
the road ahead
flanked by trees,
and stray dogs,
and solitude,
the voices in my head
sing only to the tune
of pop songs.

For once,
no ringtone,
no conversation,
no lovers,
no concerns,
no alarms,
a mindlessness.

I save myself
a half an hour less,
a hundred pesos more,
a lighter bounce to my step,
a little space for tomorrow.

the days

the days pass quick as quick and as silly as trying to catch rabbits popping out of rabbit holes we just love watching them come and go fuzz...
