and sturdy broad shoulders,
smelling of clean laundry
and twice-a-day showers,
Walking too fast,
and talking too slow
about all the things
that are good to know,
More fluids perspired than
water bottles emptied,
Marshmallow cheek-kisses
on the road to diabetes,
Six languages all at once
and cultures set to collide, instead filled bellies both
with delicacies, with pride--
Lives paralleled by chance
encounters of years and years,
Counting the white hairs--
the hundred tears and fears,
Exhaustion, pain and loss,
and illness, and anxiety,
Foreheads smoothed out,
and a full allergy recovery,
Racing hearts searching,
for answers, for meaning.
by peering into the deep--
eyes with why-s to keep--
All that has been learned,
and even more yet to be seen,
if this were a three-month dream,
please, forever let us sleep.
