trains ran along the sky.
In every car--a child,
a lover, a student,
a conversation, a glance,
a song, a dance--
Huge and alive,
these steel dragons,
roaring along
the busy boulevards.
They carried workers,
doctors, the sleepers,
the dreamers, the blind,
the light, almost deep red--
bleeding in at sunset.
Once upon a time,
trains ran along the sky
like blood flowing through
the metropolis
until the city died.
